, a longtime specialist in commercial banking for the region’s wine industry, said Wednesday it’s named Vice Chairman Harry Kellogg to oversee its wine division.
Kellogg joins Bill Stevens, the unit’s manager, and Rob McMillan, its founder, as part of the group’s management team, officials said.
Santa Clara-based SVB Silicon Valley Bank is the California bank subsidiary and commercial banking unit of (NASDAQ: SIVB). Its wine business has two offices in the Napa-Sonoma Wine Country, in St. Helena and Santa Rosa, respectively.
"Given the importance of the Wine Division to SVB Financial Group, we determined it was appropriate to have one of our most experienced banking executives involved with strategy and direct client contact," Ken Wilcox, SVB Financial Group’s president and CEO, said in a Jan. 16 statement. "Harry’s leadership, vision and experience will help us deepen our client and partner relationships in the wine industry."
Kellogg will be responsible for the wine division’s strategy while also helping to keep clients and bring in new business. Officials said the bank has been working with wineries and vineyards for 15 years, producing industry analysis reports and offering comprehensive banking services. It employs more than 30 people dedicated to assisting the wine industry in California, Oregon and Washington.
Kellogg oversees SVB Financial Group’s venture capital, private equity, private banking and premium wine activities. He joined the company in 1986, just three years after its start, as senior vice president of the then-technology division. The commercial bank’s other areas of specialization include emerging growth and mature companies in the technology, life science, and private equity industries.
